11 February 2011: NZQA introduces incentives and sanctions to reward high quality performers and apply sanctions to poorer-performing tertiary education organisations.

Consultation

13 December 2010: the results of the consultation have been analysed and published: Improving Performance Using Incentives and Sanctions: Consultation Summary Report (PDF, 65KB)

8 September 2010: consultation period closed.

4 August 2010: the consultation paper and questionnaire were updated to include three additional consultation questions.


NZQA is consulting with institutes of technology and polytechnics (ITPs), wānanga, private training establishments (PTEs), and government training establishments (GTEs) on proposals to use incentives and sanctions in the quality assurance framework to drive quality improvements.

Regional meetings

NZQA is holding regional meetings in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch as part of the consultation process. See the powerpoint presentation (PPT, 445KB).

Meetings will be held at the following venues and times:

Please register your interest in attending one of the above meetings by completing the attached registration form (DOC, 135KB) and emailing it to improvingperformance@nzqa.govt.nz.

Following the period of consultation, responses will be analysed and the final recommendations submitted to the NZQA Board for approval at its meeting in November 2010.  It is expected the policy will be progressively implemented from January 2011.
