Moderation Best Practice Workshops
Moderation Best Practice workshops are delivered by NZQA secondary moderators for teachers in specific senior secondary school subjects.
These workshops will:
- Clarify your understanding of grade boundaries of internally assessed standards
- Work with supplied assessment materials including samples of student work
- Engage in professional discussion
- Discuss new standards
The emphasis will be on the new level 2 Achievement Standards.
Note that the workshop fee is waived for 2012.
Approximately one third of workshops available for 2012 will be generic workshops designed for teachers from any subject field. Others will be subject specific.
The workshop dates are set throughout the year. The deadline for registration is 3 weeks before each workshop. Workshops will be limited to 30 participants and will run subject to a minimum of 15. If workshops are oversubscribed a waitlist will be created and a second workshop may be offered. The workshops run from 9:30am to 3:30pm with up to an hour for lunch and attendees will need to provide their own lunch.
Please note:
- There will be situations outside of NZQA’s reasonable control where a workshop may need to be postponed or cancelled.
- In no circumstances will NZQA reimburse costs of employment of relief teachers, travel costs or other consequential costs if a workshop is postponed or cancelled by NZQA.
Further Workshop Opportunities
If no workshop for your subject is scheduled in your region this year, or it was cancelled, and you would like the opportunity to work with a National Assessment Moderator then NZQA is willing to arrange a workshop provided you can organise with local teachers for at least 15 guaranteed participants. Such a workshop may be subject specific or generic.
For further information, or if you would like to propose a workshop and you are able to organise enough participants, please email workshops@nzqa.govt.nz
NZQA reserves the right to determine whether or not a workshop will go ahead.
Registrations
To register complete the details about you and your school using the the online registration link from each workshop listed at least 3 weeks prior to the workshop.
Note that confirmation of each workshop and venue will be emailed to the school authorisation contact person and to individual participants after the registration deadline ie 3 weeks before the workshop.
