Moderation Best Practice Workshops
Moderation Best Practice workshops are delivered by NZQA secondary moderators for teachers in specific senior secondary school subjects.
These workshops will:
- Clarify your understanding of grade boundaries for internally assessed standards
- Work with supplied assessment materials including samples of student work
- Engage in professional discussion with colleagues and the National Moderator
Note that the workshop fee is waived for 2012 only.
NZQA is open to working with large regional principals' associations to coordinate best practice workshop dates with teacher only days. All expressions of interest must be made by 3 March.
The workshop dates are set throughout the year. The deadline for registration is 3 weeks before each workshop. If workshops are oversubscribed a waitlist will be created and a second workshop may be offered. The workshops run from 9:30am to 3:30pm with up to an hour for lunch. Lunch is not provided but morning tea is supplied.
We are currently offering over 200 workshops. If workshops do not take place we will offer more as the year goes on in other regions or subjects.
Please note:
- There may be situations outside of NZQA’s control where a workshop may need to be postponed or cancelled.
- NZQA will not reimburse the costs of relief teachers, travel costs or other consequential costs if a workshop is cancelled with at least one weeks notice to the school or it doesn't proceed due to circumstances beyond NZQA’s control.
Registrations
To register for a workshop complete the details about you and your school using the online registration link from the Timetables for Best Practice Workshops 2012 below.
Note that confirmation of each workshop and venue will be emailed to the school’s authorised contact person and to individual participants after the registration deadline (i.e. 3 weeks before the workshop).
To view a list of the workshops by subject Download the full workshop schedule (XLS, 57KB) and select the "Subject Location Date" tab.
This is not an exhaustive list of the workshop available during 2012, as some workshops are cancelled others will be offered. These will not necessarily be in the same location or for the same subject.
NZQA reserves the right to determine whether or not any workshop will go ahead.
If you have any questions please contact workshops@nzqa.govt.nz or phone 04 463 3000.
