2011 NCEA results available
12 Jan 2012
NCEA results are now available on the NZQA website at: www.nzqa.govt.nz
More than 143,000 students submitted a total of 1.58 million entries across 373 standards during the 2011 NCEA external examinations.
The 2011 results are the first to include Course Endorsement, which recognises students’ high achievement in individual courses.
NZQA Chief Executive Dr Karen Poutasi said the 2011 NCEA examination results also included the processing of applications for Earthquake Impaired Derived Grades from students affected by the Christchurch earthquakes.
For the Earthquake Impaired Derived Grade to be applied a student had to attend their external examinations and make a realistic attempt at answering the questions. If this process was followed the student would receive the better of their exam result or the derived grade submitted by the school on the basis of performance through the year.
Dr Poutasi said while the majority of eligible students met these requirements, a small number of students did not make a realistic attempt to answer the examination questions and were deemed to not have met the eligibility for an Earthquake Impaired Derived Grade for individual standards.
An appeals process is available for these affected students. This process is in addition to NZQA’s standard process for Reviews and Reconsiderations.
Result Notices will not be mailed out this year. School Result Summaries and Records of achievement are available on request.
New Zealand is the only country in the world to return marked examination papers to students. This will take place from 24 January onwards, with papers delivered progressively over the following fortnight.
Following the return of marked papers, students have until 17 February 2012 to apply for Earthquake Impaired Derived Grade Appeals, and for Reviews and Reconsiderations.
NZ Scholarship students will receive their results in mid February. National statistics on NCEA will be available on the NZQA website from late March.
