School students
NZQA has met with the principals of affected schools to discuss ways we can work together to ensure that students are not disadvantaged by the earthquake.
NZQA recognises that the earthquake had a significant impact on secondary education in the Christchurch area, and that its effects on individual students and schools varied.
NZQA will continue to work with schools to ensure that we factor in the differing needs of students and schools and how that might effect students ability to prepare for and study towards NCEA examinations which begin in November 2011.
If students miss a significant amount of school time then we will work with schools to consider an appropriate response.
Reviews and reconsiderations
If your grade has changed as a result of a successful Review or Reconsideration application the new grade will be visible on your result notice. There may be a delay in processing these if your examination marker lives in Christchurch.
If you provided a Christchurch address please contact NZQA to confirm the address you would like your paper/s to be returned to. Some papers may have been damaged or lost during the earthquake. We will let you know if this applies to you.
Schools
Information and updates on secondary schools can be found at the Ministry of Education’s website.
NZQA is suspending external moderation for schools in the Christchurch area until further notice. Schools in the region will also be granted extended deadlines to supply information to NZQA.
NZQA will work with schools in the Christchurch area to determine any possible medium term effects on providers’ ability to assess students.
