Consultation on Scholarship Subjects Opens

10 May 2018

NZQA is currently consulting with the education sector on the Scholarship subject list.  Part of that consultation will include a proposal to remove Latin and Sculpture, and to include Religious Education as Scholarship subjects.

The number of students taking Latin and Sculpture at Scholarship level has continued to fall over many years, affecting their practical viability for inclusion.  Religious Studies was previously identified by some schools as a subject that meets the criteria and which they would like to see included on the Scholarship subject list.

Consultation with the education sector will be open from May 10 and last for six weeks. A decision will be released by end September 2018 once NZQA has considered all the feedback.

This consultation is part of a regular review process of NZ Scholarship subjects that occurs every two years.
