The Compatibility of Qualifications in Ireland and New Zealand launched
05 Aug 2010
The New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) and the National Qualifications Authority of Ireland (NQAI) launched the report: The Compatibility of Qualifications in Ireland and New Zealand (PDF, 534KB) at the Education New Zealand Conference in Christchurch today.
During 2007-2010, NZQA and NQAI carried out a project to improve the basis on which New Zealand and Ireland recognise each other’s qualifications. “The report is expected to be the foundation of future work with Ireland and will provide the basis to a new approach to qualifications recognition agreements,” said NZQA Chief Executive, Karen Poutasi.
Sjur Bergan, of the Council of Europe and one of the International Experts involved in the project, commented “the study is an excellent initiative and it will hopefully be followed as an example of good practice by other countries as they develop qualifications frameworks…The overall impression of the report, therefore, is very good and it deserves to be disseminated widely”.
