Transition 2011 literacy and numeracy - 8 credits requirements
The Ministry of Education and NZQA have changed the literacy and numeracy requirements for NCEA Level 1 from 8 credits to 10 credits.These new requirements come into effect in 2011 in a transition arrangement, and be in full effect in 2012, see Literacy and numeracy requirements from 2011.

The literacy requirements for NCEA level 1 are amended to include recognition of Cook Islands Māori as follows:

Transition Arrangements for 2011
[1] Unit Standard 25060 has replaced Unit Standard 2977. As a transition arrangement for 2011, Unit Standard 2977 will continue to meet the literacy requirement for L1.
