2011 Assessment Specifications for the external assessment of Levels 1, 2 and 3 Achievement Standards and Scholarship
Assessment specifications explain the assessment parameters for each externally assessed standard. They include information such as the format of the paper, the equipment students can bring and use, and the context for questions where appropriate. They should be read alongside the applicable standards.
There are also assessment specifications for the non examination-based externally assessed standards in Graphics, Design and Visual Communication, Technology, Visual Arts and the Mathematics Common Assessment Task.
Assessment specifications are updated each year. The latest versions of the 2011 assessment specifications for NCEA standards are available on the NCEA subject resources pages on the NZQA website. The latest versions of the 2011 assessment specifications for Scholarship are available on the Scholarship subject pages.
NCEA Level 1
Level 1 achievement standards for all subjects are aligned with the revised New Zealand Curriculum. It is important that the updated 2011 assessment specifications are used.
NCEA Level 2 and 3, and Scholarship
Those subjects with assessment specifications which have been updated in March 2011 are listed below. The updated specifications are now available on the NZQA website. Teachers should not need to alter their teaching programmes as a result of this update.
