Consultation on the proposed process for maintaining the approved subjects list for University Entrance

NZQA is consulting on processes (and criteria) for:

  1. modification to the list of approved subjects for University Entrance (addition of subjects and standards)
  2. regular cyclic review of the list of approved subjects for University Entrance (so that the list remains relevant and meets its intended purpose).

The purpose of the approved subjects list for University Entrance is to ensure that students have the appropriate skills and knowledge in a subject to prepare them for degree level study at university.

NZQA‘s review of the University Entrance requirements 2016 – 2017 indicated a process for the regular review and maintenance of the approved subjects list should be considered. Almost 90 percent of survey respondents, and all organisations, agreed or strongly agreed that: “We should have a regular process for the approved subjects list”.
