Finalised processes for maintaining the approved subjects list for University Entrance

The processes and criteria for maintaining the approved subjects list for University Entrance are now available on the NZQA website.

Following national consultation between 11 September and 20 October 2017, NZQA finalised the processes and criteria for:

a)    a modification to the list of approved subjects for University Entrance (i.e. the addition and/or removal of subjects and standards), and

b)    a regular periodic review of the list of approved subjects for University Entrance (i.e. the list remains relevant and meets its intended purpose).

A guidance document Processes and criteria guidelines for maintaining the approved subjects list for University Entrance (PDF, 226KB) has been uploaded to the NZQA University Entrance webpages.  This provides detailed information on making applications for the modification of the University Entrance subjects list, and the process for the periodic review of the University Entrance subjects list.

Key dates for 2018

Key dates for those wishing to make applications for a modification to the list are as follows:

  Application to NZQA Decision to Applicant
Addition of standards to a current subject/subjects on the list 28 February 2018 By 31 August 2018
Addition of a new subject to the list 31 May 2018 By mid-May 2019

Indicative timeline for the periodic review of the University Entrance subjects list is as follows:
