NCEA Languages verification – changed processes for schools

Schools or clusters of schools will continue to produce their own activities for assessing candidates against NCEA levels 1–3 Cook Islands Maori, Korean and Lea Faka-Tonga verified languages external standards. Schools should use the relevant assessment specifications from the NZQA Assessment Specifications page.

Please note that the processes differ depending on whether candidates sit cluster-developed assessments or assessments written and marked by individual schools.

Full details can be found on the NCEA subject resource pages.

The changes are intended to streamline work for schools and ensure that marker(s) are given verification feedback directly.

Key dates coming up are:

  • 8 July – all assessment materials reach NZQA for pre-assessment critique
  • 23 September – all candidates assessed against external achievement standards for these three verified languages
  • 19 October – all verification submissions of marked work reach NZQA.

Please read the NCEA Languages Verification Process for Schools - 2016 (DOCX, 26KB) on the subject resources pages.
