Revised External Achievement Standards for Level 2 Media Studies

This circular provides notification of the registration of the following revised Media Studies Achievement Standards:

• AS 90278, version 3 – Media Studies (2.3) Demonstrate understanding of representation in the media - 3 credits (external)
• AS 90279, version 3 – Media Studies (2.4) Demonstrate understanding of a media genre – 3 credits (external)

The registered standards are valid from 2010 onwards and will be assessed in the 2010 Media Studies external examination.

The achievement criteria in the revised standards now consist of a single outcome for each grade. This will ensure both standards are more validly assessed and allow markers to award grades based on holistic judgements.
