Consent to Assess for schools (formerly known as Accreditation)
Changes to the Education Act have resulted in some new terminology that has required NZQA to amend the titles of some documents relating to assessment of standards. Accreditation for Secondary Schools is now replaced by the Consent to Assess for schools.
What this means for schools:
Accredited schools now hold Consent to Assess. Effectively there have been no changes to the process for schools to follow to be granted initial Consent to Assess or to extend their existing Consent.
The Guide to Requirements for Consent to Assess for Schools (PDF, 153KB), which includes the Consent to Assess Against Standards on the Directory of Assessment Standards Rules 2011 (CAAS), replaces the Quality Assurance Standard for Schools (2004).
Schools will notice changes to terminology in their Managing National Assessment report, which will now refer to the appropriate CAAS guidelines. Your School Relationship Manager can provide advice and help.
