Reporting Courses for Entries with an External Provider
Candidates enrolled at one school may also be entered in standards assessed by another school. In these cases, the school of enrolment (home school) is responsible for reporting the entry, course and result of internal assessment, with the study school noted as the external provider. In these cases, it is recommended that the home school use the same Course Code and Course Name as that used by the study school. The study school should ensure this information is communicated to the home school.
Both schools can see these entries via the Standard Search pages on the school’s login. That page has been changed to default to grouping entries by Course. However, there is still the choice of selecting the grouping by NZQA Subject as in previous years.
When the course reported by the home school has exactly the same Course Code and Course Name as a course reported by the study school, the study school will see the entries grouped under the study school’s course. When the Course Code and/or Course Name are different, the course will be appear in a separate list of courses reported by other schools at the bottom of the Standard Search page.
For example, School A sends some candidates to School B for Level 3 French.
School A (home school) reports the entries for its candidates with exactly the same Course Code and Name as school B (study school): Course Code ACF300 and Course Name Advanced Conversational French
On the Standard Search page School A (home school) will see:
- Course Code ACF300 and Course Name Advanced Conversational French in the list of its courses.
On the Standard Search page School B (study school) will see:
- Course Code ACF300 and Course Name Advanced Conversational French in the list of its courses, with a count of all candidates with this Course Code and Course Name.
However, if home schools do not use the same Course Code and Course Name as the study school, the information will appear as follows:
School A (home school) reports the entries for those candidates, with School B (study school) noted as the external provider. The Course Code School A (home school) uses is L3FR and the Course Name is French L3.
On the Standard Search page School A (home school) will see:
- Course Code L3FR and Course Name French L3 in the list of courses reported.
But School B (study school) reports the entries for its candidates using the Course Code ACF300 and Course Name Advanced Conversational French.
School B will see:
- On the Standard Search page:
- Course Code ACF300 and Course Name Advanced Conversational French in the list of its courses, with a count of only its candidates.
- At the bottom of the page, in the list of courses reported by other schools, will be any other Course Codes and/or Course Names (different to that of School B's) that other schools have used for that course. Eg School A's entries will show with Course Code L3FR and Course Name French L3.
If School A does not report any course information against those entries, then those candidates will be shown under ***Unassigned*** in the list of courses from other schools.
