Examination Period for 2012

As a result of a number of enquiries from schools, early consideration has been given to the timing of the 2012 examination period for NCEA and New Zealand Scholarship examinations.

The examination period for 2012 is proposed as follows:

2012 Examinations
Start: Saturday, 10 November 2012
End: No later than Wednesday, 5 December 2012

These dates are comparable to the 2011 examination period dates, which are:

2011 Examinations
Start: Thursday, 10 November 2011
End: Wednesday, 30 November 2011

The 2011 examination timetable was published in December 2010 (SecQual circular S2010/039 2011 Examination Timetable).

The 2012 examinations will start no earlier that 10 November. The final dates will be confirmed when the examination timetable is published in late December 2011. Additional sessions will be required to accommodate new subjects arising from the implementation of new achievement standards. To avoid clashes with NCEA examinations, some New Zealand Scholarship examinations will be scheduled for a Saturday.

Please note: there will be no examinations on Friday, 16 November 2012.

Examination Timetable

The examination timetable for 2012 NCEA and New Zealand Scholarship examinations will be published in late December 2011.
