Information for ALL schools with students affected by the Christchurch earthquakes
NZQA recognises that the extraordinary circumstances faced by students attending schools within the Earthquake Affected School zone have impaired their schooling this year as a result of lost teaching and learning time.
We have put in place a range of initiatives for candidates within the Earthquake Affected School zone, and also for candidates who may have left the zone, but whose schooling has none-the-less been impaired.
Schools outside Christchurch with students affected by the Christchurch earthquakes
Many schools outside of Christchurch have enrolled students from Christchurch who have been affected by the earthquakes. Information about the initiatives which NZQA has put in place for these candidates is available from the Schools with students from Christchurch on the Christchurch Earthquakes page.
For students no longer in the earthquake zone:
- Earthquake Impaired Derived Grade (EIDG) and guidelines for application including EIDG procedures for portfolio-based external assessments
- Timelines for submission of portfolios
- Course Endorsement exemptions (PDF, 11KB)
- Credit inclusion for earthquake-affected students for NCEA Level 3 and University Entrance.
