Reporting Internally Assessed Entries and Results
Schools are reminded of circular S2100/023 of 24 May 2011, in which we stressed the need for schools to notify NZQA of their intention to assess against internally assessed standards before assessment occurs. NZQA provides tools on the school and learner web pages that use this entry and results data to show progress towards course endorsement.
The value of the information that can be delivered by these tools depends on the quality of entry information provided by the school. Reporting potential entries into standards that not all students in a course will be assessed against could lead to the appearance that course endorsement is still possible for an individual student, when it is not. Similarly, witholding the reporting of entries until there is a result for the standard could cause students to be concerned that their course is not endorsable.
Both major SMS systems now allow schools to make entries into internally assessed standards before results are available for reporting (KAMAR release 910v10). Schools are asked to ensure their SMS is up to date to facilitate this.
In particular, KAMAR users should set the check boxes so that both achievement standards and unit standard entries are sent to NZQA. Please refer to the KAMAR web site: http://www.kamar.co.nz/page/104646
