University Entrance Update
Existing University Entrance literacy requirements
New or revised Level 2 English achievement standards, for use from 2012, may contribute to the reading and/or writing components of the existing literacy requirement for university entrance. The list of standards for university entrance literacy will be updated in June to allow for planning for 2012.
Consultation on University Entrance
Consultation on the proposed changes to university entrance requirements took place between 18 October and 6 December 2010. Over 480 submissions were received. The number and nature of the submissions has prolonged the review process. We have summarised the responses and collated and answered the questions raised in the feedback. We have also met with a number of representative bodies to address particular concerns raised in their submissions. The summary of submissions will be published in May.
Outcome of consultation
Any changes to university entrance requirements will be announced early in July. They will apply to students in Year 13 in 2014 who are applying for entry to university from 2015.
Approved subject list
However, the subjects on the list of approved subjects for university entrance are under consideration as one of the proposed changes to university entrance. Depending on which changes to University Entrance are adopted, the approved subject list may change in 2012 for entry into university in 2013.
Any questions you have about university entrance may be directed to your school relationship manager or to the UEreview2010@nzqa.govt.nz mailbox.
