Update of Internal Assessment Resources Project for Level 1
In SecQual S2011/005 Internal Assessment Resources Project for Level 1, it was indicated that ‘Final Published’ versions of the assessment resources would be published on the TKI website by the end of February. This was completed by 18 February for all subjects, except Te Reo Māori and Technology specialist subjects. These ‘final’ resources have been checked and can be used with confidence by teachers in 2011.
The resources for Te Reo Māori are undergoing further checking and are expected as ‘final’ versions shortly.
Assessment resources for the Technology specialist subjects (Construction and Mechanical Technologies, Digital Technologies and Processing Technologies) started development almost a year after the other resources because the standards were created considerably later. The accelerated development of these resources has been progressing but they do need further work to complete them. The current drafts that are available are useful for planning purposes and give a good indication of the evidence that can be provided to meet the standard. Our target for publishing these as ‘final’ is the end of March.
Note: For copyright reasons, some assessment resources or annotated exemplars may only be viewed through the school’s secure log-in on the NZQA website.
Post-consultation Draft Level 2 Standards
The Ministry has released new versions of the draft Level 2 standards on the TKI website. The standards have been revised in light of responses to consultation in August/September 2010.
These standards are close to final drafts. The Ministry will issue one further version by the end of May 2011; these will be final drafts for school planning purposes. They are likely to be substantively the same as the post-consultation drafts.
First Drafts of Level 3 Standards
First drafts of the Level 3 standards are also being published by 28 February on the TKI website. The Ministry actively encourages teachers to look at these in preparation for formal consultation in August/September 2011. However, there will be changes made to these drafts before the formal consultation, because as draft assessment resources are written in April 2011 there will be feedback from writers that will improve the standards. The Ministry will publish updated versions before the formal consultation.
