Use of a Computer for Special Assessment Conditions
S2010/022 - 17 Aug 2010
Candidates entitled to Special Assessment Conditions may be approved the use of a computer, providing the computer is their “normal means of communication” (i.e. it is used by them in class and for assessments). This provision is not available in external assessment for a candidate who has a short-term disability such as a broken arm. They should apply for a derived grade.
The procedures for the use of computers by candidates entitled to Special Assessment Conditions should be consistent throughout the year so that the candidate is aware of exactly how to use the computer and their responsibilities related to this provision. Schools are advised to replicate the procedures approved for external assessments when a candidate is using a computer for internal assessments.
It is the school’s responsibility to ensure that the validity of any assessment is not compromised by the provision of a computer.
Use of Computer forms should be filled out by the Principal’s Nominee (PDF, 373KB) and the candidate (PDF, 374KB).
