Top Art on tour
NZQA's annual Top Art exhibition began touring the country on 30 March.
The exhibition represents a selection of the top Visual Arts portfolios from students who achieved Excellence at NCEA level 3 in 2009.
Two groups of 25 Visual Arts portfolios will travel to approximately 30 schools, museums, and galleries throughout New Zealand, from Kerikeri to Invercargill.
The students' work represents some of the best in each of the five areas of NCEA Visual Arts: Painting, Photography, Printmaking, Design, and Sculpture. The exhibition will also feature information provided by the students about the development of their work.
Top Art provides an opportunity for this year's level 3 Visual Arts students to see first-hand a range of high-calibre art produced by their peers, and to gain an idea of what they need to aim for in order to achieve Excellence themselves. The exhibition is also a great opportunity for members of the public to see the impressive work which New Zealand students are producing.
This year, the exhibition will begin in Wellington and Invercargill, with one set of folios hosted by Expressions Arts and Entertainment Centre in Upper Hutt, and the other by the Southland Museum and Art Gallery. The folios will continue touring towns and cities throughout the country until early August.
Further information about dates and venues is available in the TopArt website.
