Adult Education and Training Qualifications
NZQA has recently completed a strategic review of the Adult Education and Training qualifications. The aim of the review was to have qualifications that recognised and provided for the diverse contexts in which learners, adult educators, trainers, assessors and moderators operated in New Zealand and internationally.
The main outcomes of the review include:
- Stranding of the level 4 & 5 National Certificates in Adult Education and Training. The strands are: New Zealand Environment and International Environment. These strands will allow for achievement in diverse contexts.
- The level 5 Diploma was replaced by a level 6 Diploma to create a clear pathway for adult educators, trainers, assessors and moderators wanting to up-skill.
- Te Mātauranga Māori Whāiti and Adult Literacy and Numeracy Educator domains were added to the qualifications to enable practitioners to achieve these qualifications in their areas of specialisation.
