Feedback positive on kaiako and whānau workshops

Positive feedback has been received from the initial kaiako (teacher) and whānau workshops held in the central North Island region, throughout April and May.

Hosted in eight locations, the workshops have received positive feedback from kaiako and whānau alike. Workshop team leader, Keri-Anne Stephens says the workshops have been effective in raising the awareness of both groups.

Feedback from the workshops show that kaiako found quality assurance, moderation and assessment most useful and appreciated having the face-to-face contact with NZQA. Kaiako said this support was valuable at a time when new components, like course endorsement and the updated Standards Review are being introduced, Keri-Anne said.

Similar feedback was gathered from the whānau workshops that were held for learners and their families. It has become obvious that many families are still unfamiliar with NCEA.

Keri-Anne says the workshops have empowered parents by making them feel more a part of their children’s education.

Further workshops will be held around Auckland and in Whangarei from 21 – 29 June. For more information email whanauworkshops@nzqa.govt.nz or freephone: 0800 697 296.
