Quality Assurance for Mātauranga Maori
A series of nationwide consultation hui have been held to discuss a proposed model for quality assuring Mātauranga Māori in courses, qualifications and their provision.
Consultation hui were held in Wellington, Christchurch, Auckland, Dunedin, Te Awamutu, Hamilton, Rotorua, Otaki and Whakatane.
“This is the first time that NZQA has specifically considered Mātauranga Māori as part of its quality assurance framework and we are very pleased with the level of discussions and positive response, says NZQA’s Deputy Chief Executive Māori, Daryn Bean.
“The consultation hui provided a foundation that we can build on to ensure that the use of Mātauranga Māori is appropriately applied to the quality assurance framework.”
An analysis of the feedback will be available publicly in July this year. To request a copy, email terautaki@nzqa.govt.nz.
