About this role

This is a part-time role based in New Zealand.

NZQA is inviting applications from individuals for Assessment Materials Critiquers for the 2024 examinations.

Materials Critiquers work in their own time to critique examination questions and assessment schedules for a subject.

Assessment Materials Critiquers are required for the following subjects

  • Health (Level 2)
  • Religious Studies RAS (Level 1).

Working relationships

The Materials Critiquer will maintain the highest levels of security and confidentiality when:

  • liaising with allocated Assessment Team members
  • working with the Examiner.

Professional and personal qualities

Material Critiquers will demonstrate:

  • extensive subject knowledge and familiarity with the New Zealand Curriculum
  • an understanding of the principles of standards-based assessment
  • experience in developing high quality assessment material for a standards-based environment
  • experience in moderating and critiquing assessment material in a standard-based environment
  • knowledge of the rights and responsibilities of the partners of the Treaty of Waitangi in an educational assessment
  • setting, skills and knowledge in Te Reo Māori and Tikanga Māori are desirable
  • the ability to establish constructive working relationships with other professionals
  • clear and effective communication
  • the ability to work to stringent deadlines
  • the ability to implement and maintain appropriate administrative and communication systems.
