Exam room tips

Once you are told you may begin:

  • Skim read quickly through the exams on your table to check nothing is missing.
  • Organise your time to make sure you will not spend too much time on any one standard or question.
  • Pause, take a deep breath, look up at the ceiling, or towards the whiteboard, then look down and start.
  • Start with a question that looks familiar. You can answer the questions in any order you like.
  • As you start each question quickly plan how you will answer.
  • Stick to suggested word limits – more is not better.
  • Move on from a question you are finding hard. You may go back later.
  • Apply what you learnt in class.
  • Follow the instructions to attempt all the questions as best as you can.
  • When you finish go back over your answers, and check you haven't missed anything.
