 Māori Field Update

   
 

There are currently 14 subfields and 498 unit standards registered in the Māori field.

The latest unit standards to be registered on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) are Nga Kōrero me nga Reo in the General Education subfield.

The new unit standards under development in field Māori include New Māori Dance, Reo Māori Broadcasting, Kaitiakitanga, Māori Trusteeship and New Māori Music.

There are also reviews and new developments under way in the existing subfields of Māori Tourism, Māori Geography, Hauora, Whakairo, Te Mātauranga me te Whakangungu, Tikanga and Māori Business and Management.

Here are the existing nine National Certificates and six National Diplomas available in field Māori .

New qualifications are also been developed in Māori Tourism, Reo Māori Broadcasting, Hauora, Te Mātauranga me te Whakangungu and New Māori Music.

A General Māori qualification at level 4 is been developed to steer learners towards specific areas of employment using credits from field Māori and other areas of the NQF. This qualification will build on Te Waharoa (level 2).
