NEW UNIT STANDARDS AND QUALIFICATIONS

The National Certificate in Reo Māori Media - Introductory Media Skills (level 4) has just been registered. This qualification requires students to master a range of skills including presenting for radio, working with video, writing and proficiency in te reo Māori.

People who meet all the requirements of this qualification will also meet the requirements of the National Certificate in Reo Māori (level 4). Work is also underway to develop a National Diploma in Reo Māori Media. The Reo Māori Media (Introductory Media Skills) will be the pre-entry requirement for the Diploma.

Other National Certficates under development in field Māori are:

  • National Certificate in Customary Fishing (level 3)
  • National in Certificate in Customary Fisheries Management (level 4)
  • National Certificate in Māori Environmental Management (level 4)
  • National Certificate in Tourism Māori (level 3 and 4)

National Diplomas under development in field Māori are:

  • National Diploma in Reo Māori Media (level 6)
  • National Diploma in Māori Environmental Management (level 5)
  • National Diploma in Tourism Māori (level 5).

REVIEWED UNIT STANDARDS

The Mana Wahine (levels 3-6) and Hauora unit standards (levels 3-6) have been reviewed. Whakaruruhau Tourism Māori is in the process of reviewing existing Tourism Māori unit standards.

REVIEWED QUALIFICATIONS

The Hauora Whakaruruhau have completed the review of the National Certificate and National Diploma in Hauora. They are now undergoing a technical evaluation and should be re-registered on the National Qualifications Framework in the next two months.

Other qualifications under review are the:

  • National Certificate in Māori Business Management (level 4)
  • National Diploma in Māori Business Management (option in Iwi Management) (level 5)
