Providers can enter results online

The New Zealand Qualifications Authority's (NZQA) Tertiary Records unit has launched a new initiative, which gives education providers an online option of entering their individual students' records into the NZQA database.

This is instead of having to provide NZQA with hard copy or data on discs, as previously.

The new system gives providers access via the NZQA Provider Login Service on the NZQA website. Providers can also monitor the progress of the data submitted, to ensure that all is well.

NZQA undertakes that data provided will be on students' Records of Learning (ROL) within 10 working days. However, the new online capacity generally sees the process completed within three working days.

For providers entering their data online payments are not required up-front, as they are invoiced later. Providers can also do online sightings to see how far their submission has progressed and whether any errors have occurred in the process.

There are approximately 200 providers currently using the NZQA website in this way.

NZQA Business Analyst Sharlene Lawrence says that the feedback received so far has all been positive.

"I think that the main attractions for this new system is that providers now have more control over the entire process. It makes it easier for providers to manage, rather than having to rely so heavily on NZQA. It gives them independence and I'm sure that it is seen widely as a welcomed change."
