STEP Send your application with a covering letter to NZQA
It's critical that providers send a covering letter that clearly states the exact scope of accreditation you are seeking. It will also be helpful to outline your current accreditation status and the evidence included in your application.
If your submission includes any field Māori unit standards or you are self-identified as a Māori provider you can request to have your application dealt with by a Māori Case Manager, simply state this in your letter.
Kai Tech's covering letter followed the format of a NZQA template, it was brief and to the point. It stated precisely the nine domains and what levels of the National Qualifications Framework it wished to seek accreditation in. Kai Tech wanted to assess students against four domains in Reo Māori (levels 1-2) and five domains in Core Generics (levels 1-2).
The letter also stated their current accreditation status, and the supporting evidence it had included with their application. Kai Tech also requested to have their application dealt with by a Māori Case Manager.
Their application was sent to NZQA in December 2001. A Māori Case Manager evaluated and approved Kai Tech's submission. They received confirmation in March 2002, that their application to extend their scope of accreditation had been approved.
