The Preferential Track offers a streamlined approval process with a target turnaround time of one month. It recognises well-performing providers who have a proven record of successful course development, delivery and review.

Use the table below to check whether your application could be eligible for the Preferential Track. NZQA will determine whether it can be analysed on this track when your application has been received.

Note:

  • Courses requiring approval under legislation cannot be processed under the Preferential Track process, eg courses leading to teacher registration.
  • If your application cannot be analysed on the Preferential Track, the application will revert to the Standard Track. The target turnaround time for applications on the Standard Track is three months.
  • You must have National Qualifications Framework accreditation for all unit standards in a course before your application can be considered for the Preferential Track.
