- Best practice principles for the assessment of unit standards
- Learning and Assessment: A Guide to Assessment for the National Qualifications Framework: Published in 2001, this provides comprehensive guidance for assessors of unit standards. This is available at: http://www.nzqa.govt.nz/for-providers/resources/index.html
- Generic Computing – levels 1 to 4 assessment resource may be useful for all unit standard assessors. It includes an explanation of what assessment involves, provides examples of possible assessment tools and guidance about portfolio and integrated assessment.
- Case studies of assessment and moderation are intended for use as examples of assessment and moderation in practice – they are not definitive guides.

A range of assessment resources are available for unit standards registered on the Field Māori section of the National Qualifications Framework.
NCEA Resources
Exemplars, assessment specifications, assessment schedules, clarification of standards, and national moderator reports are located online for a range of NCEA subjects at the following link. These resources are aimed at assisting organisations to develop their own assessments and relate mainly to school curriculum-based standards, such as English, Mathematics, Science etc. These resources also provide a range of assessment ideas that may be of general use for TEOs.
