Dance unit standards
NZQA's National Qualifications Services (NQS) has developed some assessment resources as assessor support material.
This material is a set of unit standard assessment exemplars, prepared by the National Dance Advisory Group, to assist providers of National Qualifications Framework Dance unit standards.
These exemplars are a selection of the available unit standards and are intended as a guide for teaching and particularly assessment. They can be used as models against which to prepare material for the other unit standards.
The following unit standards are represented in the exemplars:
| Unit standard | Title | Level | Download |
|---|---|---|---|
| 11496 | Choreograph dance for others | Level 4 |

| 11497 | Demonstrate dance | Level 2 |

For each unit standard the resources include
- Notes for assessor

In compiling the unit standards it was necessary to make minor refinements to seven of them. The new versions and review report are available on the web.
The changes involve the following:
- Unit Standards 14876 and 14877 increased in level from 1 to 2. This will allow these unit standards to be used towards the National Certificate in Dance (Level 2)
- Credits for 14877 increased from 2 to 4
- Safety element refined in 14876, 11497, 14879, 11500
- Performance criteria deleted in 14879 (3.2), 14889 (2.5), 11500 (3.4)
- Several refinements to Unit Standard 11499.
