AMAPs
Accreditation and Moderation Actions Plans (AMAPs) relate to industry or sector-specific requirements for the accreditation of organisations to deliver programmes and/or assess against unit standards in the scope of the AMAP, and to the moderation process that accredited organisations will need to engage in. Every standard registered on the National Qualifications Framework cites the number of its applicable AMAP.
You can skip to a specific section by selecting one of the following headings.

Find the AMAP Id for unit standards by browsing
AMAPs are linked to each standard on the website. Click on the domain heading to explore the domain. Below 'Explore domain' will be a list of qualifications in the domain, and below that a list of unit standards in the domain. Click on the link 'View providers, AMAP & purpose' which is to the right of 'Unit standards'. This will enable you to access AMAPs, as well as version information, the purpose statement, accredited providers and the SSB responsible for the unit standards.
Purpose of an AMAP
An SSB, such as an Industry Training Organisation, or the National Qualifications Services or Māori Qualifications Services, prepares an AMAP for an industry or sector. The AMAP comprises an Accreditation Information section and a Moderation Information section.
Accreditation Information
The purpose of the Accreditation Information section is to
- allow industry or sectors to establish specific requirements, where necessary, within the eight accreditation criteria for accreditation of providers
- advise organisations of specific requirements for accreditation
- advise organisations of SSB involvement in the accreditation process
- highlight to NZQA Quality Auditors and delegated accreditation agencies, industry or sector-specific requirements for accreditation
- clarify the specific requirements of that industry or sector for personnel involved in accreditation
- ensure consistency between accreditation panels.
To clarify any industry or sector-specific requirements, organisations seeking accreditation should contact the relevant SSB.
The schedule of fees for SSB involvement in an organisation's application for accreditation overrides all schedules in currently registered AMAPs. SSBs may choose to charge applicant organisations lower fees than those in the schedule. Contact the SSB for further information.
To become accredited, applicant organisations undertake to participate in their own internal as well as the SSB's national external moderation of assessment to ensure that consistent assessor judgements are made that meet the national standard. The Moderation Information section provides information on the SSB's national external moderation system.
Moderation Information
All standards on the NQF are moderated through SSB national external moderation systems. The Moderation Information section of an AMAP sets out the national external moderation requirements for the unit standards listed in the scope of the AMAP. It is the responsibility of accredited organisations and SSBs to ensure that assessors participate in the SSB's national external moderation system.
Quality assurance and registration of AMAPs
Framework Registration is the NZQA business unit that coordinates the quality assurance process for AMAPs developed by SSBs. For information designed to assist SSBs with the Framework Registration quality assurance process, including the Criteria for Approval and Registration of NQF Accreditation and Moderation Action Plans, see Quality assurance and registration of AMAPs.
