Expiring and expired unit standards

Reviewed unit standards deemed no longer fit for purpose are designated expiring. Expiring unit standards are removed from the website. They are no longer available for new education programmes but may continue to be used by providers in existing programmes until their status changes to expired.

The date that the unit standard is to expire is normally a minimum of two years from the date of review. The expiring period may be longer or shorter depending on the reason for and outcome of the review. The Review Report states the date that the unit standard will expire.

Please note: The 'expiry date' that appears on the first page of a unit standard document is not significant; it relates to an anticipated review date, rather than an actual expiry date.

Any unit standard that can be downloaded from this website is registered.

Replacement Unit Standards

Some reviewed unit standards are designated expiring and replaced.

When significant changes are made to a unit standard a replacement unit standard is registered with a new ID. To find out if an expiring unit standard has been replaced, search the Framework using the Unit replacements by ID function (to find out which unit standard replaced 1782, enter 1782 in the search box).
