Revised Qualification and Unit Standard Templates

April 2006 saw the launch of the first phase of a database project designed to replace Framework Registration's 1990s databases. The new database 'QUAL' more effectively supports business practices and assists with the management of the NQF. It also necessitated a change to templates for qualifications and unit standards.

Revised Qualification Template

In April 2007 we began transferring qualifications to a new template during the registration process, and since July they have been transferred as part of the evaluation process. The new qualification template has been adapted to align more closely with the format produced by the database. The changes to the template allow the use of macros as part of the registration process.

SSBs are encouraged to use the new template in preparing applications for registration. A formatting guide for qualification documents has also been prepared to help with the template.

While SSBs can use the new templates now, it is not mandatory for all applications to be based on the new template until January 2009. In the meantime all qualifications submitted in the old template will continue to be transferred to the new template as part of the evaluation process.

Revised Unit Standard template

From April 2006 unit standards have been transferred to a new template during the registration process.

SSBs are now encouraged to use the new template in preparing applications for registration. A formatting guide for unit standard documents has also been prepared to help with the template.

While SSBs are encouraged to use the new template, standards on the old unit standard template will continue to be accepted and Framework Registration will use a macro to convert them from old to new as part of the evaluation process. Review support packages will now include unit standards on the new template.
