NZQA's role in the sector
NZQA’s role in the education sector is to ensure that New Zealand qualifications are valued as credible and robust, nationally and internationally, in order to help learners succeed in their chosen endeavours and to contribute to New Zealand society (NZQA Statement of Intent 2010-13).
Providing greater opportunities for Māori learner achievement, and recognising mātauranga Māori and other forms of indigenous knowledge in education, including distinct pedagogies and methodologies are key added value elements of NZQA’s quality assurance system.
