Te Hono o Te Kahurangi - Approval to develop a qualification

Education organisations require approval to develop a qualification for listing on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework.

The decision to approve a new Te Hono o Te Kahurangi qualification for development is based on the quality and sufficiency of evidence provided with the application.

The application should clearly demonstrate a ‘distinct value and genuine need’ for the qualification.

NZQA has provided a Te Hono o Te Kahurangi qualification template (DOCX, 47KB).

Ngā pātai aromātai – key evaluative questions

The decision to approve a qualification is made by answering the following pātai aromātai:

Ngā paearu – evaluative rubrics

Ngā paearu are evaluative rubrics that outline criteria used by evaluators when making judgements about the quality of an organisation’s overall performance and reflective practice.
