Assessment and Examination Rules and Procedures for Secondary Schools - 2009

5.1 Accreditation Requirements

  1. Accreditation involves an evaluation of the capacity of a school or wharekura to assess against standards registered on the NQF as specified in the Quality Assurance Standard for Accreditation of Secondary Schools 2004.

  2. Accreditation is required for any standard for which candidate achievement is to be assessed by the school or wharekura and reported to the New Zealand Qualifications Authority. The list of domains for which all accredited schools and wharekura are automatically accredited is the Base Scope of Accreditation for Schools (BSAS).

  3. Schools or wharekura wishing to assess against standards beyond the BSAS must extend the scope of their NQF accreditation.

  4. A school's or wharekura's accreditation is reviewed every three years and reconfirmed using information contained in, but not limited to, Managing National Assessment Reports and Education Review Office reports.
