Assessment and Certification Rules and Procedures for Secondary Schools - 2008

6.1.1 Examination Centres

  1. Examinations will be held at such times and places as determined by The New Zealand Qualifications Authority.

  2. Examination Centres will be established annually by reference to candidate entry numbers and distance between schools.

Special Examination Centres

  1. Where no school is available to be an examination centre, The New Zealand Qualifications Authority may establish a special examination centre. Such cases relate to candidates who are living in remote areas and studying through The Correspondence School.

  2. Applications to establish a special examination centre must be made by a candidate or Principal's Nominee before 1 September each year on the approved form, which is available from The Correspondence School.

  3. Applicants are responsible for identifying:

    1. a suitable examination venue, which allows candidates to work uninterrupted for the duration of each examination and be free from noise and other distractions

    2. a suitable supervisor for each examination who must:

      • be aware how examinations are conducted
      • be able to ensure that examination security is maintained
      • have no direct family relationship or connection with any candidate.

  4. Any costs associated with the use of the venue are the responsibility of the applicant.

  5. Candidates must also enter through a school and pay all examination entry fees.

  6. In all cases the published examination timetable will apply.
