Assessment and Certification Rules and Procedures for Secondary Schools - 2008

Introduction

  1. These Rules and Procedures have been prepared by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority in pursuit of its function as defined in Part 20 of the Education Act 1989.

  2. The New Zealand Qualifications Authority revokes the Assessment and Certification Rules and Procedures for Secondary Schools 2008 on 31 January 2009. All terms and conditions delivered in the 2008 Rules and Procedures apply to all of the 2008 secondary school qualifications.

  3. These Rules and Procedures will be effective from 1 February 2008 until 31 January 2009.

  4. These Rules and Procedures specify the general requirements for the administration of the following qualifications and standards in secondary schools:

    1. National Qualifications Framework (NQF) qualifications
    2. Scholarship (2008)
    3. the New Zealand university entrance standard.

  5. The principles of fairness, validity and transparency of assessment practice for all candidates are fundamental to the administration of qualifications in secondary schools and underpin these Rules and Procedures.
