Assessment and Examination Rules and Procedures for Secondary Schools - 2009

Introduction

These Rules and Procedures are made under section 265 of the Education Act 1989.
The Assessment and Examination Rules and Procedures for Secondary Schools 2008 made on 31 January 2008 are revoked.
These Rules and Procedures will be effective from 1 February 2009 until the close of 31 January 2010.
These Rules and Procedures specify the general requirements for the assessment and examination of the following qualifications and standards in secondary schools:
1. National Qualifications Framework (NQF) qualifications
2. Scholarship (2009)
3. the New Zealand university entrance standard.
Included in these Rules and Procedures are the requirements for the New Zealand university entrance standard made under section 257 of the Education Act 1989
The principles of fairness, validity and transparency of assessment practice for all candidates are fundamental to the administration of qualifications in secondary schools and underpin these Rules and Procedures
