What does NCEA mean for me and my business?

Quality Assured

NCEA, like other National Qualifications, is registered on the National Qualifications Framework. This means NZQA is satisfied it meets certain standards for robustness of assessment processes, consistency of standards, rigour of reviews, and relevance to the needs of all sectors of New Zealand society.

As a consequence you can be sure it is Quality Assured and that when someone presents an NCEA as their qualification, it has integrity, meaning and value.

International recognition

NCEA is recognised by a number other countries as having equivalence to their own qualifications. Reciprocal agreements also mean qualifications gained in a number of other countries can be directly measured against NCEA.

Detailed Records of Achievement

Each student has a Record of Achievement. This lists their achievements to date. The RoA provides a lot of detail about just what students can do.

The RoA is a valuable tool when an employer is evaluating candidates for a job because it is so comprehensive and detailed.

You should also remember that your staff will add to their RoA as they complete other training, such as on-the-job training you provide, or tertiary studies at Polytechnic or with private providers. In this context NCEA is merely an early entry on what is a lifelong record.
