Costs
The fee structure for school qualifications is:
| Fee structure for domestic candidates | |
|---|---|
| Fee | Fee |
| Entry for all NQF standards (includes NCEA) and up to 3 Scholarship subjects | $75 |
| Additional Scholarship entries | $75 per subject |
| Fee structure for foreign fee paying candidates | |
|---|---|
| Entry | Fee |
| Entry for all NQF standards | $375 |
| All Scholarship entries | $100 per subject |
How do you pay the fee?
Your school will ask you to pay the fee to them. They will forward the fees for all of their students to NZQA. If you have not paid your fees to your school, and their deadline is now passed, you can download a payment form, complete it, and send it in to NZQA. Remember that unpaid credits will not be used for awarding the NCEAs, University Entrance, or other National Certificates.

Your NSN
Every student in New Zealand has a National Student Number (NSN). This is used to identify each student and allows schools and other agencies to register & track the progress of students. Once your school tells NZQA you are entered for NQF standards, we will send you your exam entry slip, and will expect to receive your entry fee.
In the case of NCEA it also allows NZQA to produce personalised exam packs - that is exam papers for the standards you are entered, which have your NSN on them. They can also be tracked through all stages of handing and marking.
