Graphics Exemplars

Explanatory notes.

The following exemplars were developed using material generated against version 2 of the achievement standard. Since then version 3 of the standard has been published which affects the externally assessed standards A/S 90037, 90039 and 90040. The material published here still has relevance when matched against version 3 of the standard across the 3 achievement standards, as only minor changes have occurred. The changes are detailed below.

90037 - version 3 of the standard had minor changes to the terminology used; i.e. the student at achieved must communicate their own ideas in response to a design brief; at merit the student must clearly communicate their own design ideas.

90039 - version 3 of the standard had the following changes: the drawings must now be in response to a design brief and at merit the drawings must be detailed.

90040 - version 3 of the standard had the following changes: the tonal change criteria remains at the achieved level, but the light and shade criteria from the merit area is replaced with "effective tonal change". The explanatory notes further define what is meant by effective tonal change and should be referred to for clarity.

The rendered drawings produced must be in response to a design brief to access the achieved area, which is a change in emphasis from version 2.
