Level 3

This resource contains examples of candidate work submitted in 2006 for assessment for the Visual Arts Achievement Standards 90517, 90667, 90668, 90669, 90670 Produce original work within (design, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture) to show extensive knowledge of art-making methods and ideas.

The purpose of this resource is to provide Visual Arts teachers with specific examples that demonstrated the levels of achievement of each standard in 2006, and to illustrate some of the different ways in which the standard may be met. The portfolios selected contain examples of work that have gained Achievement, Achievement with Merit and Achievement with Excellence.

The resource should be used in conjunction with the relevant Assessment Reports for these standards for 2006, which are available on the NZQA website and provide important information for Visual Arts teachers using these standards in 2007.

Appropriating candidates' ideas and decisions directly from these exemplars is likely to reduce opportunities for other candidates to produce an original body of work, as required by the standard.

Scholarship

This resource contains examples of candidate work submitted in 2006 for assessment for Scholarship Visual Arts.

The purpose of this resource is to provide Visual Arts teachers and candidates with specific examples that demonstrated the levels of achievement of each standard in 2006, and to illustrate some of the different ways in which the standard may be met.

Notes for managing the files:

  • In the table below, 'Landscape' and 'Portrait' refer to the page-orientation, NOT to the subject matter. All candidates submitted work in both Landscape and Portrait orientation. In the PDF files below, Candidate # 1 in both 'Painting' documents is the same candidate.
  • In the High Resolution ZIP files, candidates files can be identified by a common identifier number - the first 4 characters of the file name. Thus file5735.jpg in the Design Folio belongs with 5735-6171.jpg and 5735-6174.jpg in the Workbook file.
  • The High Resolution Folio images are of the entire folio. You may wish to create separate images of each panel for printing purposes.
