| The Ministry of Education and the New Zealand Qualifications Authority are conducting a provider survey as part of the National Student Index (NSI) Project. When implemented, the National Student Index will provide each tertiary student with an identifier (unique identification number). The identifier will stay with a student for life and be used for all reporting to the Ministry and to the Qualifications Authority (for the National Qualifications Framework). The purpose of the survey is to ensure that the design of the NSI takes into account the systems and processes that providers already have in place to collect student information.
