Business As Usual In Results Process
18 January, 2007
The Qualifications Authority is assuring exam candidates that the normal process of checking NCEA results marked "Result Not Yet Available" (RNA) is being carried out.
This involves less than 1 percent of the 1.9 million results from the 2006 exams - 17,000 results for individual standards involving 8700 candidates. A total of 136,000 candidates sat exams.
At the same time last year, around 30,000 results for individual standards were marked RNA.
Approximately 14,000 of the current RNAs relate to candidates who did not attend exams, but whose personalised exam booklets were not returned to NZQA from exam centres. These candidates will not be expecting results.
The remaining 3,000 RNA results are being checked as part of normal processes, and many are likely to involve results incorrectly coded at the data entry stage.
Results will be updated online as checking progresses.
"No candidates will miss out on results," the Qualifications Authority's DCE, Qualifications, Bali Haque said.
"RNA is used when results need to be clarified - this is part of our normal, rigorous process of checking results."
