Top Art tours the country

2 May, 2008

Visual art from New Zealand 's top secondary school art students features in a touring exhibition, taking in around 30 venues from Kerikeri to Invercargill over the next four months.

Travelling in two collections, Top Art begins at Te Tuhi Centre for the Arts in Manukau City, and Kamo High School in Whangarei, on Monday, 5 May. Both move on to other venues around the country on Friday.

The annual exhibition represents a selection of the top Visual Arts portfolios from students throughout New Zealand. All of the students involved gained Excellence for their work at NCEA level 3 in 2007.

The exhibition provides an opportunity for this year's secondary school students, and their teachers, to view the high-calibre art produced by their peers, and to understand the standard necessary to achieve Excellence in Visual Art at level 3. It is also an opportunity for members of the public to see the quality of art being created in schools.
