The National Qualifications Services (NQS) of the New Zealand Qualifications Authority has completed the review of the unit standard listed above that was registered in June 1996.
Date review completed October 2005
Summary of review and consultation process
At a meeting held in November 2003, stakeholders requested that unit standards in the Special Education subfield be retained and rolled over. Feedback indicated low use of the unit standards but the advisory network panel recommended all the unit standards be retained even though only 11 had been used by a small number of providers. These standards were submitted for rollover to maintain accessibility and currency should future work on the development of qualifications for special education personnel require them.
As part of the evaluation of the rollover application, it was pointed out to NQS that unit standard 7275 was potentially unsafe for candidates and assessors, as the application of physical restraint is contrary to the Crimes Act 1961. It was therefore considered advisable to request that this unit standard be designated as expiring.
