The New Zealand Road Transport and Logistics Industry Training Organisation (NZRT&LITO) has completed the review of the unit standards listed above.

Summary of review and consultation process

 

A consultation group consisting of representatives from the Bus and Coach Association New Zealand, New Zealand Taxi Federation, selected industry assessors and training providers was set up to review the fitness of purpose of each unit standard.  The unit standards then went through an edit to ensure they conform to NZQA requirements, to check and update references and legislations, and to change LTSA to Land Transport NZ.

 

Changes resulting from this review are mainly of a technical nature, largely rephrasing to simplify and clarify content.

 

Main changes resulting from the review

 

19423 and 20472

• The content focus of these two unit standards remains unchanged, but statements have been rephrased using simpler terminology to improve their clarity.
• Change in the title of unit standard 19423 to, Deliver commentaries to passengers in a vehicle, to clarify that the unit standard is intended to cover, commentaries in a vehicle.

20471

• Increase in credits from one to two to reflect the amount of learning required.
• Details of the Road to Milford Sound website added into the special notes section.
• Performance criteria extended to incorporate the knowledge of emergency equipment to be carried on board the vehicle and industry provisions for emergencies.
